The Adoption Option Reunites Pets and Owners

The Adoption Option Seeks To Reunite Pets and Owners

If your pet is picked up by Amarillo Animal Management and Welfare, the fees to reclaim your furry friend can be expensive. The Amarillo Panhandle Humane Society has a new program called “The Adoption Option.”  It is designed to reunite owners with their pets and reduce municipal fees.  Currently, reclamation fees can be as much as $150 or more.  With “The Adoption Option,” you can “adopt” your pet back for a much lower cost.  Dogs are just $95.00, and cats are $65.00. No overage fees will ever be charged.

In addition, your pet will also receive other benefits when you “re-adopted” them.  First of all, they will be microchipped for identification purposes. They will also receive their the first and second set of vaccinations.  Finally, your dog or cat will be spayed or neutered.  When pets are fixed, they are far less likely to roam and end up back at the shelter.  It is the hope of everyone involved in this program that more pets and owners are reunited.

The Adoption Option is not available for animals that have already been altered.
