The Amarillo Area Foundation granted $125,000 to Amarillo College to help students fight food insecurities.

Amarillo College’s Advocacy and Resource Center has put $40,000 into the food pantry and $85,000 into the emergency aid fund to help students with food, housing, childcare, and more.

The Amarillo Area Foundation funded this grant after AC applied and provided data on how the resource center increased graduation and transfer rates.

The goal is to provide students with these resources so they can focus on schooling even if an emergency pops up.

Since 2015, Amarillo College has provided more than $1 million in emergency aid to students, with completion rates tripling from 16% to 60%
