The City of Amarillo has published its findings from the recent audit ordered by the City Council of the Amarillo Economic Development Corporation.

Specifically, the report released today focused on AEDC employee expenditure reimbursements for fiscal years 2022 through 2024. This audit was sought because of revelations made recently that employees regularly used personal credit cards to cover organizational expenses, then submitted forms so as to be reimbursed.

AEDC President Kevin Carter recently told the city council the city-issued cards, known as P-Cards, often would not work, so they just started using their personal cards, and getting reimbursed.

According to the employee expenditure audit, one employee submitted well over $14,000 in 2023 to be reimbursed for airline tickets, event-related expenses, and what appears to be some personal items that were sent to her home.
