“My Next Guest Needs No Introduction” Debuts Friday, Jan. 12th

Get ready for a cool new show with our old pal, David Letterman!  Yup, it’s time for everyone’s favorite Late Night host to make a return to the TV airwaves. Titled “My Next Guest Needs No Introduction,” the new show is set to run on Netflix and will feature Dave interviewing people who “need no introduction”. The first guest will be President Barack Obama, then Tina Fey, George Clooney, Malala Yousafzai, Jay-Z,  Howard Stern and others. They’ll be 60 minute episodes, consisting of part interview, part out-in-the-field bits.  One episode per month, with the first one airing THIS FRIDAY (Jan. 12th, 2018).  Word is, Dave receives $2-million per.  Dave says these interviews are conducted with the idea that “these are people I’m genuinely curious about and have questions for”. Ever the raconteur, Letterman’s hour-long show will allow him to further sink his teeth into whatever he chooses to cover (certainly more so than the confines of a 12-minute CBS interview on his old show).

And don’t worry. Dave hasn’t really changed a bit. He still knows how to conduct an interview like nobody else, and has a keen sense of when to just shut-up and let the guest tell their story. He’s warm, funny…maybe a bit less cranky than he was on CBS…and makes us feel like we’re watching a conversation between 2 old friends. It’s a GREAT choice, and it’s wonderful to see Dave back on TV! A lot has changed since Letterman last hosted The Late Show. Although he was never particularly strident when it came to politics, digging into Trump is now something of a prerequisite to having a successful talk-show. But that shouldn’t be a problem, either.
