Duran Duran’s Andy Taylor Makes Peace With ‘Death Sentence’

Andy Taylor has made peace with dying while not giving up on living. Taylor, who is Duran Duran’s guitarist, was unable to attend the band’s Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony in November 2022 due to his cancer battle. At the time, he revealed “Just over 4 years ago I was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic prostate cancer. I have the Rodgers and Edwards of doctors and medical treatment that until very recently allowed me to just rock on. Although my current condition is not immediately life threatening there is no cure.”
Andy recently told People that he still had to make peace with the inevitable. “It’s a death sentence. So you sort of walk out of the hospital in a stunned silence, because you could never be prepared for … you’ve got to start from the fact that it’s a slow burn, so it’s not going to take you quickly.” Andy is still making music, which he says has been a boon for his health: “[I’m] trying to stay alive and live a life, which I am absolutely not giving up on.”
