HBO Max and Discovery plan to combine and be come just ‘Max’! Warner Bros. Discovery is replacing HBO Max with a new streaming service to be called simply ‘Max’. Max will feature programming from HBO and other Warner Bros. properties as well as content from the Discovery library. The company announced the news, saying, “On May 23, HBO Max is becoming Max — The One To Watch for all of HBO, hit series, movies, reality, and more.” There has long been speculation that the so-called “Streaming Wars” will result in widespread consolidation, and if this latest merger is any indication, that speculation seems to be coming true.
