Rolling Stones Guitarist Is Putting Out An Album Of Chuck Berry Covers!

Ronnie Wood is releasing “Mad Lad,” a new solo album of Chuck Berry songs!  Ronnie is, of course, the longtime guitarist for The Rolling Stones.

The album was recorded live by Wood and his other band, ‘Wild Five’ last year.  Mad Lad pays tribute to Mr. Chuck Berry. Chuck is one of Wood’s biggest musical heroes. The fact that the album is recorded 100% LIVE means that the sweaty, gritty club-performance vibe remains intact.  It’s like we’re sitting at a beer-soaked table in some honky-tonk, listening to Ronnie play these Chuck Berry songs on a Saturday Night!

Here’s a sample:

Ronnie says that this is the first of a Trilogy of albums. These records will all feature the songs of his musical influences and heroes.  The 3 records should be released over the course of the next few years. We can expect the albums to be issued on CD, vinyl, digital and a deluxe box set, complete with signed Ronnie Wood original artwork!

Those of us who are MAJOR Ronnie Wood Fans (or even casual bystanders) can follow Ronnie on Facebook:

When we get a copy of ‘Mad Lad’ I’ll probably play a few cuts from it during Saturday Night Solid Gold, so let’s plan on sharing that!
