Tasteless? Or A Great Chance To See An Idol On Tour? You Decide
It’s been approved by Roy Orbison’s Estate. The hologram tour has announced its maiden journey across North America.
Following its debut shows this spring in Europe, “In Dreams: Roy Orbison in Concert-The Hologram Tour” began a 28-date run on this past Monday, October 1st in Oakland, California. The show will pair the Texas-Born singer with live orchestration and newly recorded, never-before-heard, digitally remastered arrangements of his classic hits.
The In Dreams tour will hit theaters and performance arts center across the U.S. and Canada before concluding November 19th in Clearwater, Florida.
Some fans are excited about the experience, others think it’s a tasteless rip-off. But regardless, the entire idea and tour have the approval of Roy Orbison’s son and family. So no matter what, this thing’s off and running.
In addition to the touring production, the hologram will also have a residency at Branson, Missouri’s Andy Williams Moon River Theater. This is the first ever hologram residency. It begins in 2019, with previews scheduled to begin later this year.
Of course, if this is as successful as promoters hope, we could see more “classic” artists touring as holograms. Maybe Johnny Cash? Buddy Holly? Or….Elvis? Click HERE for a link to tour dates and ticket purchases.
