Episode 3 – Rare Earth: What REALLY Happened?

Welcome to Episode 3 of our little podcast, “Rare Earth: What Really Happened?”  So, what exactly causes your favorite band to fall apart? Let’s say you’ve been listening to their music, buying their albums, seeing their shows and then…bam!  It all falls apart.  Nobody knows the rhyme or reason.  From The Beatles to Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin to the Spice Girls.  Bands get together and, sure as you’re born, they break up. Nobody knows this better than Peter Rivera.

Peter was the drummer and lead singer of one of our favorites:  Rare Earth.  The band formed in Detroit in the late 60s and had hits like “Get Ready,” “I Just Want To Celebrate,” “Hey, Big Brother” and tons more.  The future, in the words of Tom Petty, was wiiiiide open. I had the opportunity to sit down with Peter Rivera and let him tell us the whole story, warts and all. We’re featuring the band on this week’s Saturday Night Solid Gold.
