Fayetteville, North Carolina recently unveiled their new team name and logo. In a similar process to the one happening in Amarillo, Woodpeckers was the winner.
Today we chat with Mark Zarthar, President of the Fayetteville Woodpeckers (Class A Advanced for the Houston Astros). We learn a bit about the city they play in, and also how residents responded to the process of coming up with the team name and logo. Fans submitted names, five finalists were chosen, and a winner was announced on Sunday. We learn that while some of the response early on was negative, people warmed up to it as they learned the story behind the name and logo, and how it directly ties into Fayetteville.
We will learn Amarillo’s team name on Tuesday, November 13th at 1 pm. I look forward to seeing what story our logo will tell about our city!
Astros fans, keep up to date with how some of your prospects are doing in A Advanced ball in 2019 at Fayettevillewoodpeckers.com.
