About a year or two ago, younger people started developing a love of vinyl music. Time and time again, I hear people say there is nothing like hearing that needle hit the vinyl and all of the ambiance that goes along with it! Well, that love has transformed into profits. For the first time since the 1980’s, vinyl sales have passed CD sales! For the First part of the year vinyl made 232.1 million in music sales, and CD’s brought in 129.9 million. While sales for both have really taken a hit this year, vinyl still managed to show a profit growth of 4%, where CD’s were down 48% overall.
More and more people are moving of course are moving to electronic downloads, and simply streaming from services. But, if you want to continue the Vinyl path of musical pleasure, you’re going to be in great company probably for years to come.
