It’s the Final Week, and the Final 10 Movies From Our List!

We’re six days from Halloween!   How many horror movies have you watched this month?  October is really the only time that I watch Scary Movies. Sort of like cooking at turkey during a month other than November…it can be done, but let’s face it:  You don’t want to be THAT person, right?  Keep your turkeys in November, and your horror flicks in October.  And would you buy a Christmas tree in June?  I don’t think so.  So!  Let’s get caught up.  Here are our movies up to this point:

WEEK #1 (1 thru 10)
1. “The Old Ways” (2020) – “She is…a BRUJA!” Yikes. Ugh. Yeesh!  I’m not even sure I should post this.  But we gotta start somewhere, right?

2. “Pan’s Labyrinth” (2006) – Guillermo Del Toro.  A master storyteller (and they’re all creepy).

3. “Sweetheart” (2019) – A tasty little Blumhouse horror movie.  You’ll like this one.

4. “Hush” (2016) – Shhhh!  There’s scary stuff out there!

5. “1922” (2017) – Based on a Stephen King short story.  This is one instance where the translation to film works very well.

6. “Freaks” (2018) – Bruce Dern is still a bad dude who  walks with a swagger.

7. “Cargo” (2017) – Martin Freeman from the ‘Hobbit’ films stars in this horror movie from the ‘Babadook’ team.

8. “Girl On the 3rd Floor” (2019) – This is a horror movie within a horror movie.  *NOT* for in easily offended!  And not what you’re expecting.

9. “Insidious” (2010) – Any time director James Wan is working with Patrick Wilson (The Conjuring flicks), you know you’re in for a scary ride!

10. “Devil In Ohio” (2022) – This is an 8-part series from Netflix, and it’s definitely a slow-burner. This one’s not as good as their previous year’s offerings (Haunting of Bly Manor; Haunting of Hill House; Midnight Mass) but those are tough acts to follow! “Ohio” is very much worth a watch. It’s early in the Horror Movie Season, so give this a chance and let me know what you think.

WEEK #2 – (11 thru 20:

11. “The Midnight Club” (2022) Netflix

12. “The Shining” (1980) HBO Max

13. “Midsommar” (2019) Showtime Anytime

14. “Conjuring” 1 thru 3 (plus the Annabelle movies) HBO Max

15. “The Blair Witch Project” (1999)  HBO Max

16. “Witch” [or VVitch?] (2015)  Hulu

17. “Antlers” (2021)  HBO Max

18. “Night Of the Living Dead” (1968) Streaming free just about anywhere and everywhere.

19. “28 Days Later” (2002) Hulu

20. “The Exorcist” (1973) HBO Max

…which brings us to this FINAL WEEK! Can you believe it’s almost Halloween?  The only tip-off for me is, I’m completely out of mini-Reece’s!  Time to hit United and settle in for the last 10 movies on our list!  Here we go!

WEEK #3 – (21 thru 30)

21. “The Black Phone” (2022) – I plunked down the $5 to watch this one on Amazon.  Worth it. Sooooo worth it!

22. “Saint Maud” (2019) Amazon

23. “Bodies, Bodies, Bodies” (2022) – A24’s deal with Showtime ends Nov. 1st…so you may need to drop a Fiver and watch this one on Amazon.  It’s worth it…trust me.

24. “The Watcher” – (2022) another Netflix multi-part horror anthology, with Naomi Watts, Bobby Canavale, Margo Martindale, etc etc.  Fun and scary!

25. “Hereditary” (2019) – Still the scariest, freakiest movie I’ve seen in the past 10 years.  Be prepared.  Have a good friend on standby to talk you down.

26. “Get Out” (2018) – From the gang at Blumhouse, and from the twisted mind of Jordan Peele.

27. “Us” (2019) – See above…from Blumhouse and from Jordan Peele.

28. “Prey” (2022) – Available on Hulu and billed as a ‘Predator’ prequel.  Amazing Indigenous cast and great script.

29. “Depraved” (2019) – Sick. Twisted.  Who thinks ofthis stuff?  Yuck!  I love it…

30. “Doctor Sleep” (2019) – Who would’ve thought a sequel to “The Shining” would work?  It does.  You’ll dig it.  It’s on HBO Max.
