An Amarillo woman is looking at more than an 11-year prison stay in jail.

Viviana Chavez had previously agreed to a plea agreement after being indicted on multiple drug-related charges.

She had been arrested in March of 2023, for an outstanding municipal warrant after a traffic stop, when meth was found in her vehicle. A further search revealed a bundle of methamphetamine in her purse.

Chavez was sentenced on March 7 to 135 months, a little over 11 years, in prison for “Possession with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine.”
