Study: Hitting The Snooze Button Is Good For You!
While doing so might make you late for work, hitting the snooze button on your alarm clock every morning can actually be good for you! That’s according to a study published in the Journal of Sleep Research, which reveals people who go back to sleep for an extra 30 minutes in the morning showed an improved performance in cognitive tests, compared to when they got out of bed immediately.
“A brief snooze period may thus help alleviate sleep inertia, without substantially disturbing sleep,” says lead researcher Tina Sundelin. Of 1,732 people surveyed for the study, 69 percent said they either hit snooze or set multiple alarms at least occasionally, Sundelin says. Is it the extra sleep or just the satisfaction of having a bit more time in the sack? The jury is still out. But the evidence is clear: hitting the snooze button is a good thing!
