Dr. Johnny Black
Dr. Johnny Black is from Memphis… TEXAS! A small town in Hall County. He grew up loving all kinds of music, and left home to travel with various touring bands in the 1980s. He played shows everywhere, “around the world and elsewhere”. Having studied Music Theory for a time at WT, Johnny followed his passion for Mass Communications at Amarillo College, and joined the ranks of Texas Panhandle Broadcasters in 1996.
Johnny has been working at 100.9 The Eagle since 2006, and first hosted the Evening Show before moving to his current Afternoon Drive slot in 2011. Johnny loves ALL music. Period. From Charlie Parker to Chuck Berry, from Bach to Bangles. He’s our resident Music Trivia Expert, so we talked him into hosting the weekly “Saturday Night Solid Gold” oldies show, 6 to 10 PM Saturday evenings.
When he’s not rockin’ the Texas Panhandle on our airwaves, Johnny is probably sharing the latest movies with his son, Colby, or spending time with his guitar collection. Someday Mick Jagger will call, looking for a replacement for Keith Richards. But, until then, you can hear our Dr. Johnny Black weekdays, 3:00 to 7:00 PM on 100.9 The Eagle!
