Legendary ‘Moonshine Cave’ Found Underneath Abandoned Speedway!
A legendary ‘moonshine cave’ dating back to Prohibition has been uncovered in North Carolina! The speedway itself has been closed since 1996, but is currently undergoing renovations with plans to re-open in May for the NASCAR All-Star Race. Wilkes County, NC was a well-known bootlegging capital during Prohibition in the early 20th century. In fact, the origins of NASCAR date back to the fast-driving ‘moonshine runners’ of the era!
