Thirty-three-year-old, Jeremy Smith was captured in Bernalillo County after a chase and officer-involved shooting.Deputies were called out to a convenience store on a report by a store clerk they spotted the fugitive.

Deputies saw Smith walking down a street and quickly set up a perimeter border, boxing him in a residential neighborhood.

A foot pursuit started and shots were fired at Smith and he was taken into custody without further incident. Smith was also wanted on various other charges including murder and felony possession of a firearm and criminal damage to property after killing New Mexico state trooper Justin Hare on March 15.

Smith was linked to the death of a South Carolina woman after officials discovered the car he was driving belonged to a paramedic who was found dead.
