Pro-Active Shooter Prevention
Law enforcement agencies around the area are looking to prevent active shooter incidents.
The Threat Assessment Threat Management team identifies individuals at risk of becoming active shooters.
Randall County Sheriff. Chris Forbis says the team has intervened in at least three cases over the past year. He goes on to say that this is a way to get out in front of an active shooter event before it happens.
Agencies intervene early on to provide counseling or to build a case and make an arrest before any harm is done.
The team looks at anyone of any age, but it’s specifically for school-aged kids.
Potter County Sheriff Brian Thomas says the market of criminals is fluid and ever-changing.
Several law enforcement agencies, including Randall and Potter County Sheriff’s Offices, the Canyon Police Department, the Amarillo Police Department, and the Department of Public Safety, are collaborating on the team, along with local schools.
